I was recently contacted by Shopperlocal / Eli Global LLC via Fedex delivery with a demand for me to return a cell phone and an iPad that I used when I worked for those companies. The reason I did not return those items to them is they reversed my last paycheck after direct depositing it to my accounts. Calls to my former direct supervisor after this happened were not returned. If you look at the letter Anthony Palazzo sent to me it appeared they were threatening to file a lawsuit against me if the equipment was not returned.
After looking at the signature block on this letter he presents himself as Legal Counsel – Litigation. This would strike anyone that he is a licensed attorney in the State he does business from and possibly in the State he mailed the letter to. The implied threat of impending lawsuit if I did not meet his demand struck me a crass given they reversed my final paycheck. I sent him and others in the company that I was more than willing to return those items if they would agree to pay my final paycheck and associated fees from my bank. Mr Palazzo then emailed me stating:
I am your contact at this Company (ShopperLocal, RTN, etc.) now. Do not make contact with any person moving forward and no one other than me will contact you.
His email also contained the following verbiage after his signature block:
NOTE: THIS IS AN ATTORNEY CLIENT PRIVILEGED COMMUNICATION FROM THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT AND IS IN SUPPORT OF LITIGATION OR FURTHERANCE OF COMPANY LEGAL ISSUES ONLY. AS SUCH, THIS EMAIL IS PRIVILEGED AND CONFIDENTIAL.
Given the printed letter delivered by Fedex and the email I received from Mr Palazzo it is very clear is presenting himself as a licensed attorney especially his demand for me to not contact others employed by Shopperlocal and his request for confidentiality. This prompted me to sending him an email asking him which state he was licensed to practice law after an initial search at North Carolina Bar’s website and not getting any results for searches by his full name Anthony Palazzo and by his last name Palazzo . He never replied to this request.
I found where Anthony Palazzo was suspended from practicing law in New Jersey because he was arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of cocaine. The record indicates that he went to treatment and I sincerely hope for him and his family he has been able to maintain sobriety and abstinence from mind altering drugs. I have first hand experience in dealing with alcohol addiction personally and as a family member. Based on the number of suits he has filed on failed bar and restaurant purchases he probably has not.
Anthony Palazzo’s record of arrest, evidence and any conviction was expunged. His record of disciplinary actions remain.
I did find where he is licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey ID: 034171985. That still does not give him the right to practice law in the State of North Carolina or the State of Georgia. His contacts with me and his online profiles are prima facie proof he has been engaging in the unlicensed practice of law in the State of North Carolina where the principal office of Shopperlocal is located.
If you have a letter from Anthony Palazzo on behalf of Eli Global, LLC, Shopperlocal, RTN, Register Tape Network or Adcart demanding payment or threatening suit for haphazard advertising buys refer them back to this post. Chances are Shopperlocal / Eli Global, LLC do not have authorization to do business in your state and could not file a suit against you if they wanted to. If you are in receipt of a letter from Mr Palazzo I am more than happy to take a look at it for you and show you where they do not have a leg to stand on. I will update this post after I file complaints with North Carolina Bar and the Georgia Bar.
Update: After discussion with the Georgia Bar Association the activities of Mr Palazzo do not violate the Georgia Bar.
Formal complaint filed with NC Bar association against Mr Palazzo on 9/15/17 I will provide details in a later post.
Principals at Shopperlocal / Eli Global should send me a check for helping them tighten up their processes.
NOTICE: I am not an attorney. I have never claimed to be one. I would not charge you to show you how to get out of your contract with Eli Global, LLC or Shopperlocal or point you in the right direction to show you how their employment contracts are worthless.
