If you or your business is considering shopping cart ads at Winn Dixie based on being approached by representatives of Adcart or ShopperLocal you should take heed.
Adcart will set appointments with local businesses to sell advertising on Winn Dixie shopping carts asking for a decision while their rep is present, after their well crafted presentation. I would assume that the reason for that is to not allow small business owners the opportunity to do any research on the product or get any type of evidence of ROI. Part of that presentation they will attempt to persuade you on the fact that businesses renew once they get on the carts at a pretty high rate.
Ask them for references and to call you back at the end of the day after your call the references. Do not settle for one or two. Ask for five references in your vertical or very closely tied to it.
If you are expecting direct response from this type of advertising you need to save your money. This type of advertising is only good for brand recognition not direct sales. If you do not believe me it is your money and you can spend it how you want.
It really is a shame that Winn Dixie allows their local clientele to be subjected to this type of super aggressive sales process. I cannot see how it could possibly build goodwill in the eye of the local small businesses and professionals. If you have been through this sales presentation and find it as offensive as I do you can let Winn Dixie know.
